Social Media sites have helped many people connect with (and stay connected to) many people from all over the world. Social media has changed the way people communicate.
Concerning the field of education, social media sites can help teachers create groups/classes that can help students to stay connected beyond the classroom. I think that there are a lot of ways that teachers can use social media sites. The greatest benefit to using social media sites, to me, is the opportunity to extend learning beyond the classroom
I have created groups on Facebook to help students keep up with what is happening. I have been added to lists on Twitter so that people can follow the information being posted. I have used I have heard of teachers using Edmodo to create safe social media environments for their classes.
