Questions about technology in the classroom.
Many teachers are realizing the potential of technology in their schools and classrooms. But, is technology changing quicker than the teachers can learn? Are teachers being "left" behind? Do all teachers use technology in the classroom, or are some ignoring the possibilities? Are there benefits in the instructional applications to technology? I am not currently working in a classroom. I have served as a youth pastor for most of my adult life. As a Bible teacher, I have used technology in many ways in my Bible study classes. Many types of multi-media have helped me share a lot of information with the students that would not have been able to share if those devices were not available. Over the years, I have seen many advances in technology. I have pursued this degree to help me to not be a teacher who has been "left" behind. Neither do I want to ignore the potential available in using the latest technology. Picciano (2011) posed the question, "Because technology is good, is more technology better?" I do not think that having more technology will help students learn, but, when teachers can combine proper planning with technology then student learning can increase. Different tools do different things in different hands. So, what (if you are an active teacher) are the best instructional applications in the classroom?
