EDUC 630. ONLINE COMMUNITIES

The main online communities that I am involved with include facebook and twitter. I am also involved in a non-profit organization called T.H.E. Mission. Facebook has helped me to be able to connect with friends and family all across the world, quickly and easily. Twitter is also helpful in connecting people to certain areas of interest via the # symbol. I use twitter to share Scripture with followers interested in the #Bible. T.H.E. Mission has a facebook fan page that helps create an online community for those people who are interested in world missions. I am also connected with Liberty University. As far as my family goes, most of them are online, that is everyone except for my dad. The online community that most of my family members are on is facebook.

  1. REPLY TO CHRIS GRIMES FROM JEFF WRIGHT,

    Chris,

Pretty neat. I never thought of the aspect of online communities being connected to those who are on world missions. That is really cool. My family and I have decided that this year we are going to support and adopt a mission family or person by means of family prayer and writing personal letters of encouragement. Is this site called T.H.E. Mission a place that we can connect with someone? It would really be helpful. The person we had originally selected has already returned home from missions and no longer an active missionary abroad. So, we are in need of finding a means to get in touch with someone so that we can offer family prayer and encouragement support. I would appreciate any information you might offer. Thanks for your post.

    Blessings,
    JW

  2. I think that is a great idea.

We have worked with Marie Prinvil who runs the El Shaddai Children's Home since 2000. Her family is Haiti but lived and worked in Jacksonville for years where her husband was a Pastor. They felt the call to move back to Haiti and care for the kids there. Here is her FB page so you can connect with her:

We also with very closely with Mike and Bonnie Snider who work for the Jacksonville Baptist Association and have taken over the Cabaret Baptist Children's Home in Bercy, Haiti since the earthquake. Here are their FB pages:
