Ebooks are a great topic of interest to research. Ebooks are becoming very widespread in the consumer market and are becoming widely adopted in the educational sphere as well. Based on my own review of the literature, I have seen many studies look at students’ perceptions of ebooks, but actual research on academic achievement such as reading comprehension are greatly lacking. Examining the true academic value of ebooks is a great idea for a research study.
Interesting point about the slowness of educational institutions to adapt to changes around them. I don't see how that can continue to be the case with the rate at which things are changing now. It will be intriguing to see how quickly research can be done and disseminated to those who need to see it and use it, and if that pace will be fast enough to keep up with technology to some degree. I wonder if the use of ebooks is going to go to the point of changing how we even define what a book is since so many mobile devices have audio and video capability. At some point, the educational system may have to undergo a complete overhaul itself to accomadate a truly different world from the one it was established in during the industrial revolution.

ReplyDeleteMichael,
ReplyDeleteI agree that researching ebooks for academic value is good idea. Still, much research needs to be done.
Thanks,
